Frequently Asked Questions

A book trailer, akin to a movie trailer, is a concise video promoting and previewing a book’s story and content. It aims to captivate potential readers and generate interest in the book. Creative licenses are often taken in translating the story from print to video. Also known as Book Teasers, Author Promotions, Book Promotion Video, Book Advertising Video, Online Book Promotion, Book Publicity, and Book Video Ads.

A book trailer can be beneficial for reaching a broader audience, increasing visibility, and providing potential readers with a glimpse of your book’s unique features. It serves as a creative tool to showcase your writing style and generate interest. Assess your marketing strategy, target audience, and promotional preferences to determine if a book trailer aligns with your overall book promotion plan.

At Boars Hill Press, your book is our template and takes center stage. Our seasoned artists and producers understand the author’s journey from manuscript to marketing—a path filled with unknowns, deadlines, and expenses—and so we value your resources.

Taking the lead in crafting the audio-visual narrative, we incorporate visually stunning graphics, immersive stock footage, voice-over, and the perfect music for your novel’s promotion. Our book trailers go beyond mere visuals—they’re an experience.

Variety is a crucial strategy in marketing, which is why our packages offer a range of options. Alongside your full trailer, we provide cut-down versions customized for various social media platforms in four standard formats. This ensures your message reaches and resonates with a wider audience across different channels effectively.

The outcome? A compelling call to action, strategically guiding your audience towards that coveted “ADD TO CART” button. Are you ready to revolutionize your marketing approach?

Yes, the challenge of adapting a book to film lies in translating print to screen. A book trailer addresses this on a smaller scale, providing a litmus test for film producers. Your trailer speaks their cinematic language, acting as a proof of concept. It shows how the story can be effectively translated to the screen, instilling confidence in the project’s viability, marketability, and appeal.

The duration of a standard book trailer varies, but most range from 30 to 120 seconds.

CREATIVE BRIEF
From your Project Brief Submission we brainstorm a creative brief tailored to your genre, target audience, story elements, and book files. This high-concept idea serves as the blueprint for constructing a script.

SCRIPT
Leveraging the provided brief, we transform your written elements—tag lines, blurbs, book description, and plot lines—and craft a compelling script.

FOOTAGE & MOTION GRAPHICS
We select and compile production elements such as typography, graphic backgrounds, visual effects, and high-definition stock footage, along with your marketing files, to integrate into the editing process.

AUDIO PRODUCTION
Possible music tracks and sound effects will be gathered to reflect the style outlined in the creative brief. If required, voice over talent will be explored.

POST-PRODUCTION
Our editors combine all production components to create a preliminary cut. A screener version will be shared with you for feedback. Following your input, our artists enhance the video sequence with edits and animations, which is then followed up with sound mixing to produce the final cut.

DELIVERABLES

Project Acceptance Policy

At Boar’s Hill Press, we reserve the right to accept or decline project requests based on our review of the project and our ability to produce an end product that meets our standards. This includes consideration of limitations due to the availability and suitability of stock footage, which may impact the final representation of the book trailer. As we strive to represent your work accurately, there may be discrepancies in physical characteristics of main characters and location settings. This is a common occurrence in the adaptation of literature to visual media, as many have experienced with their favorite works of art being brought to the big screen.

Licensing and Content ID

Our use of licensed materials from various media libraries is standard practice to protect the rights of artists. In some cases, you might receive notifications from platforms like YouTube challenging the content due to potential copyrighted material, even though our company holds the necessary licenses. This is a routine measure and should not be a cause for alarm. We can handle the upload of your video on our site and address any licensing issues directly. Alternatively, we can sublicense the rights to you at no extra charge, ensuring that your video complies with platform policies.

DISCLAIMERS

Project Acceptance Policy

At Boars Hill Press, we strive to produce high-quality book trailers that faithfully represent your work. However, due to the limitations of available stock footage, there may be some discrepancies between the book and the final trailer. These discrepancies may include differences in the physical characteristics of main characters, location settings, and other visual elements. As we are sure you have experienced when seeing your favorite works of art on the big screen, adaptations often involve some changes. We reserve the right to accept or decline project requests based on our assessment of these limitations and our standards for the end product. Our goal is to deliver a trailer that represents your work in its purest form, within the constraints of the resources at our disposal.

Licensing and Content ID

Please be aware that while we hold the necessary licenses for all content used in our projects from reputable media libraries, YouTube’s automated systems may still flag videos with copyright claims due to the Content ID system. This system is designed to protect the rights of artists and creators whose work is licensed for use.

These claims can usually be resolved by submitting the appropriate license documentation to YouTube. This is a standard practice across the industry and not something to be alarmed about. We understand it can be inconvenient, but it ensures that artists are properly credited and compensated for their work.

In the event of a YouTube copyright claim, we offer two solutions:

  1. We can handle the claim process for you by uploading the video to our site and managing the license verification directly.
  2. We can sublicense the rights to you at no extra charge, allowing you to dispute the claim yourself with the necessary documentation.

Our aim is to provide a seamless experience while upholding the integrity and rights of content creators.

Thank You!
